Ali Kaviani Nina Feldman Mateusz Czekaj

Ali Kaviani read Natural Sciences at Queens' College, Cambridge University and obtained a PhD in Astrophysics from Imperial College London before training in contemporary dance in Scotland and Belgium. He underwent Inclusive Dance Practice Training with Magpie Dance.

Ali's choreographic work is a process of re-interpretation, and re-engagement, using the body-mind to examine what he has accumulated through life. He is interested in the gaps between consciousness and intuition, in kinaesthetic perception and how we relate to each other affectively. He searches for an understanding of these that uses the body in the integral, instinctive way we often attribute to animals.

Ali founded involuntarymovement in 2003.
